An Innovative Tool for Import Risk Analysis

Welcome to

HandiRISK™ is an innovative software tool for import risk analysis of biological products. With HandiRISK™, risk analysts can evaluate the risk of a wide variety of importation scenarios.

How does work?

HandiRISK™ builds the analysis to fit the user’s instructions, then models the risk of introduction using the chosen approach (quantitative and/or qualitative). A range of reports are produced which show the outcome of the analysis in both textual and graphical form, and document in detail the analytical steps which the user has chosen. Once constructed, the analyst can run multiple variations on the initial analysis to identify the best risk management strategy.

Key attributes are:

  • built-in templates, developed by industry experts, to model the importation of live animals, semen, embryos, and meat products, with additional templates able to be added at will, either for general distribution or for a particular user.
  • ability to model import scenarios using quantitative (either stochastic or deterministic) models, qualitative models, or combinations of the two approaches.
  • ability for users to create, store and reuse their own templates either to model scenarios not covered by existing templates, or replace built-in templates with a variant of their choosing.
  • analyses can be performed on a range of commodities and species
  • zoning of different areas within a country with regard to a disease is supported
  • data (sourced mainly from OIE) specifying the disease agent occurrence within particular species and countries can be used to reduce the list of possible candidate agents
  • ability to calculate risk for either individual importations, or annual risk for multiple importations
  • extensive annotation facility to store personal user comments and data
  • a simple easy to use wizard like interface to guide the user through the creation of an analysis

Where can be used?

  • Provincial / State / Central Government Agencies
  • Risk Management Organisations
  • Importing Organisations
  • Food and Health agencies
